Wedding Day
February 18, 2006
Today’s the day. ‘Til death do us part starts soon.
After all the madness of the last few weeks, I’m rather at peace. Oh, every so often my stomach flips at the realization that this is my actual wedding day. I’m a bit keyed up and focusing is an issue. Yet at the same time there is serenity. After all, consider the man I’m marrying.
People often say, “Oh isn’t it wonderful that he’s so willing to take on your boys?”
Yet the other day he left me a note, thanking ME for bringing my boys into his life.
He is THAT man.
On our very first date he told me he loved me. I choked and said I couldn’t really say the same. He said he figured, he just wanted me to know. I looked at him and thought, this guy is either a crazed stalker or the love of my life.
He turns out not to be a crazed stalker.
The other day I told my mom,
“You know, there are lots of good and solid reasons for me to marry Clay. He’s responsible, dependable, he pays his bills and is kind and can beat me at Scrabble. He’s great with the boys, and they love him. There are lots of good and sane reasons to marry him.”
Then I whispered, “This is my secret,” and tears stung my eyes because it was so true. “My secret is that I’m not marrying him for any of the sensible reasons. I’m marrying him because I love him. Because I feel like I’ve come home, and I just want to be with him.”
So. That’s what I’m going to do.
Let me be the first to say it online on the official day ... Congratulations Kira, Clay, Tre, Max and Raphi! Thank you for sharing this with us and know that the internet loves and adores you and wishes you all the rainbows and butterflies and hearts and candy canes in the world :)

God Bless you and Clay. We will see you and your lovely husband today.
I had to tear up a little because I remember that first date. Well I remember you saying you were actually going on a date and his name was Clay. It was the day after our Blogmeet here. I remember telling you that he sounded like a special man and a keeper. Kind of funny how it all worked out.
God Bless. See you in about 2 hours!

Congratulations to your new family!
Our 3rd anniversary is March 1st and the day before we were married my husband thanked me for combining our kids into one big happy family and it comes with a ready made daughter, whom he totally spoils. Between us we now have 5 kids! It is great fun.

For those that wonder....it was a beautiful wonderful wedding. It was one that you felt the love from not only the couple but from the people. It was pouring out the door.
She was a stunning beautiful bride. He was a handsome catch with a smile that only because he knew how lucky he was to have a gem like her!
Thank you for inviting us and letting us be a part of your celebration.

Is it incredibly selfish of me to say "come back!" in a very Jack-&-Rose-Titanic sort of way?

Congratulations, Kira, and to your boy and new hubby. I'm wishing you a future full of love and joy.

Just a note in case anyone reads this far back on the comments - Kira and Clay are deep in remodeling and camping out in the middle of it, so she doesn't even have her laptop over there yet! In addition, she has been very sick for the last few days - don't know what, just a high fever and severe headache. She has been to a doc and is on very expensive antibiotics (the more they cost, the better they work, right?) and hopefully will be on the mend soon. She had begun working on a blog before she got sick, but is kind of unable to do that right now.
The wedding was great, and the reception was the funnest I have ever been to! But the details are hers to tell you. Thanks for all your love and messages.

Seriously, this is about the 4th story I've heard of a new bride getting very ill shortly after. Scary! Get better, Kira!!!
Posted by: Angela Giles Klocke | March 03, 2006 at 06:50 AM
Oh my gosh! I was just about to tell you to come up for air, and tell us how wedded bliss is! So sorry you've been sick hon! Get well soon!
Posted by: Sheryl | March 05, 2006 at 08:16 AM
Hope your feeling better, Kira. Good luck with the remodel, how crazy! Can't wait to hear the details, I hope you will share pictures too!
Posted by: Mary Jo | March 05, 2006 at 07:32 PM
I know! I was getting ready to make some sarcastical remark, and now I feel like a heel. Get well soon. I'm sorry there are no antibiotics strong enough to make a remodel magically finish itself.
